At SMA we believe an individual’s right to keep their personal information private is highly important. When you appoint us as your agent to arrange finance and insurance facilities we are committed to protecting and maintaining the privacy, accuracy and security of your personal and financial information.

| How We Collect Information

We will only collect personal information relevant to our business relationship with you. The information we collect will include contact details, personal details and financial information.

Collection of this information may take place in a number of ways, such as when you complete an application form for a product or request a product or service over the telephone or internet.

Personal information can also be collected during the ongoing course of our relationship with you such as when you may contact us to discuss existing loans and or insurance requirements.

Whilst we endeavour to collect your personal information directly from you we may need to from time to time utilise other avenues. Personal information can sometimes also be collected about you from other sources such as:

Credit information or payment history may be obtained from a credit reporting agency (i.e. TCS or Credit Advantage) or financier in the course of preparing an application for a loan on your behalf.
Your employer may be contacted to confirm your employment details.
Your landlord may be contacted to confirm your residence and rental payments.
Your accountant may be contacted to obtain and discuss financial reports used to support your application.

A motor dealer who provides initial information to us about you so we can commence preparing a finance and/or insurance application on your behalf.

Were we need to collect information from other sources we will tell our clients that we are doing this, and why it is necessary?

In the majority of cases we will require your specific verbal/written consent for the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information by SMA.

We may use your information to offer you products and services that we believe meet your needs. However, you can notify us at any time if you do not wish to receive these offers. We will act promptly on any such requests which can be made by either emailing us, calling us on 03 62 44 22 99, writing to us at PO Box 1089 Rosny Park Tas 7018 or calling into our office at 90 Clarence St Bellerive TAS 7018.

SMA may also be required or authorised by law to disclose your personal information. For example to a Court in response to a subpoena or to the Australian Taxation Office following a direction issued under taxation laws.

We will not share, sell or trade your personal information to any non SMA group company or person with out your prior consent.

SMA will use up-to-date techniques and processes which meet current industry standards to ensure that your personal information is kept secure and confidential.

Only employees of SMA and those who perform services on our behalf, and are authorised to handle information, will have access to your personal information.

You have the right to access most of the personal information we hold about you and request corrections. You can request access to your information by visiting our office at 90 Clarence St Bellerive TAS 7018. This service is free unless the information you request requires significant research or preparation time. Before we act upon requests of this nature, we will tell you how much this service will cost.
