Our Team of Business Finance and Mortgage Brokers in Tasmania

The business that has grown into SMA Finance commenced in 1994 when Mark Sealy and Paul Mazengarb commenced Sealy Mazengarb & Associates P/L. Over the years the business grew with the employment of staff and the addition of more directors plus the opening of offices in Launceston and Burnie. Today the directors of SMA Finance are Paul Mazengarb and Ian Churchill who each have over 30 years experience in the finance industry. The Launceston office is operated by Peter Lovick whilst the Burnie office is operated by Peter Johnstone. Both Peter’s have 30 years experience in finance.

Paul Mazengarb

Director, Hobart Office.

Employed by the Commonwealth Bank for 11 years prior to resigning to become a partner in this business.

Paul is an Equipment Finance expert, specialising in forestry and related timber industries. He has been responsible for the development of several costing models which have become industry standard and utilised by forest principals, contractors and lenders.

His opinion on contract prospects is highly regarded throughout the industry.

Obtained Diploma of Financial Services in 2011.

Ian Churchill

Director, Hobart Office.

Former State Manager of AGC in Tasmania, joining SMA in 2002.

Obtained a Graduate Certificate of Management from the University of Tasmania in 2000 and an Associate Diploma of Business - Banking & Finance in 1994.

Ian is an Equipment Finance specialist. His organisational and management skills ensure a smooth running office and quality applications submitted to lenders, achieving a fast turnaround for our clients.

Obtained Diploma of Financial Services in 2011.

Peter Lovick

Proprietor, Launceston Office.

After 14 years with Ford Credit Australia, Peter commenced with SMA Finance in April 2003.

With operations, lending, business development & management experience in over 20 years in banking & finance, Peter opened the Launceston offices in 2003. 
 
Offering finance for any worthwhile purpose, Peter provides facilities for clients from a vast array of backgrounds. With a constant focus on customer satisfaction, he prides himself on being able to offer prompt, professional & friendly service.

Peter Johnstone

Licensee, Burnie Office

Over 30 years in Finance Industry. Previous to opening the Burnie Office worked in Motor Industry specialising in all forms of Motor Vehicle Finance as Motors Statewide leading Business manager. Peter has developed his Industry knowledge to be now known as a Commercial-Home Loan & Equipment Finance specialist. Peter has formed strong Specialised Industry relationships with clients in Mining, Transport ,Forestry, Agriculture & Aquaculture.

Peter offers great service that enable his clients to concentrate on their core business. He offers his clients valued and qualified advice that ensures the best outcome for them in a timely professional manner. Currently Peter holds a Certificate IV in Financial Services and is progressing to completion of his Diploma of Financial Services.

Scott Limbrick

Lending Specialist, Launceston Office.

After 27 years with Esanda Finance and 4 years with Ansett Australia, Scott commenced with SMA Finance in Launceston in July 2003.

Scott has extensive experience in all areas of chattel finance and now specialises in equipment, business and motor vehicle lending.

Adrian Purchas

Lending Analyst, Hobart Office.

Joined SMA in 2002 from AGC Melbourne.

Adrian has responsibility of analysing and processing applications for our larger and more complex clients.

Leonie Moore

Administration and Loans Assistant, Hobart Office.

Employed by Commonwealth bank for 12 years, before joining SMA in 1994. Leonie manages day to day operations at the Hobart office, while also supporting the lending analysts and directors with loan applications and settlements.

Judy Johns

Office Manager and Loans Assistant, Launceston Office.

Employed by the Commonwealth Bank for more than 13 years specialising in lending, Judy joined SMA in October 2004. Judy runs the day to day operations of the Launceston office as well as assisting management with all aspects of lending applications through to settlement.
